Gold Award For Wikipusaka, A Wikimedia Outreach By University Students

Student volunteers from International Islamic University Malaysia won the Gold Award at the 9th University in Action Symposium in Malaysia for their project WikiPusaka, which aims to preserve indigenous language and culture on Wikimedia projects.

These students took part in the university course we're teaching at the university, where they learn to become Wikimedia trainers and train rural villagers on projects such as Wiktionary, Lingua Libre, and Wikimedia Commons.

The students received support from the Rapid Fund grant provided by the Wikimedia Foundation and were able to execute the workshop throughout three days across three weeks.

Receiving the award in the picture is Brother Azri, who served as the programme manager to the group of 30 students.
