 On August 30, 2026, the Wikimedia Community User Group Malaysia (WCUGM) convened its annual strategic meeting in Kuala Lumpur, gathering 27 regional community leaders alongside representatives from the ESEAP Hub and the Wikimedia Foundation. The summit focused on localizing the global Wikimedia 2030 strategy, evaluating successful initiatives such as WikiGap Malaysia, and addressing critical infrastructure barriers, notably the need for standardized UI/UX interfaces on Wiktionary to better support non-English contributors. Discussions also outlined upcoming collaborations with the ESEAP Hub—including capacity-building programs on artificial intelligence, indigenous community engagement, and regional support for Brunei Darussalam. The strategic gathering concluded with the election of a newly composed board, re-electing Taufiq as chair alongside four new members, three of whom are women, and culminated in a joint celebration of WCUGM’s 10th anniversary and Malaysia’s 69th Independence Day.
